Hector, a homeless Hispanic immigrant, drifted into Orchard Valley for the fruit harvests. One Sunday he wanders drunk and dirty into a church service and disrupts everything. Keith, one of the ushers, throws him out and warns him never to come back. Even though Keith seems to be an exemplary Christian and family man, his encounter with Hector unmasks his own arrogance and prejudice.

The intertwining lives of these two men tell a story of failure, forgiveness, and redemption. The true heroine of that story is Esther, a widow in her seventies. Her love, quirky humor, and perseverance introduce the grace of God to Hector, a man with no hope and seemingly, no future.
